HPV: Human Papillomavirus - the most common sexually transmitted infection 🦠

Did you know that HPV can be transmitted from person to person via vaginal, anal or oral sex. Generally there are no signs and symptoms, which is why it is so important to get your Pap smears when they are due and tested on a regular basis.

FACT: Approximately 79 million Americans are currently infected with HPV.

Your immune system may be able to get rid of the virus on its own, but it can also cause warts and changes of the cells of the cervix that can be precancerous and if not monitored progress to cancer.

Prevention is key:

1️. Get the HPV Vaccine: it protects against some of the most dangerous strands. Age recommendations: 9-45 years old. It’s best to get your child vaccinated prior to any sexual activity.

2️. Use condoms every time! If you have HPV - make sure to stick to your follow ups with your doctor. Also take supplements that will help boost your immune system like Vitamin C, probiotics, elderbery, green tea, etc.
